Kathy Salter studied classical art to learn painting techniques. Later she focused on Impressionism and learned to craft the brushstrokes and shading necessary to implement this style.
To begin the process, Kathy uses digital computer programs to create virtual brushstrokes and shadowing, using a complex palette of methods. Then, after the image has been printed on canvas, she adds hand painted strokes to continue to replicate the Impressionist feeling. While she paints in a variety of styles, Impressionism is her favorite because it allows for a broad range of artistry and interpretation. When finished, the painting then becomes a beloved family heirloom.
